Common questions
What is the best cinnamon roll in Washington DC?+

Lou's Buns at L'Enfant Plaza tops our ranking. DC native Alexandria Diggs left teaching during the pandemic to bake full-time, and the shop sells cinnamon buns and essentially nothing else, with riffs like the Sweet Buntato alongside the classic. Seylou in Shaw is a close second and the opposite approach: a whole-grain bakery milling 100% of its flour in-house daily, which gives its bun a nutty depth nothing else here matches. Northside Social in Clarendon is the third.

What neighborhoods in DC have the best cinnamon rolls?+

Shaw and the U Street Corridor have the highest concentration of quality bakeries. Logan Circle (Buttercream Bakeshop, Three Fifty) and Georgetown (multiple options) are also strong areas. NoMa has grown significantly with newer openings like Pluma.

Are there vegan or gluten-free cinnamon roll options in DC?+

Not on this list right now. Sticky Fingers, DC's dedicated vegan bakery for twenty-four years, closed in August 2026. Seylou mills its own whole grains and is the best bet for talking through what is in a given bake, but no spot we currently cover offers a vegan or gluten-free cinnamon roll. If you know one, tell us and we will check it.
